About the Cayley Curriculum
Education has the power to change lives. At Cayley Primary School, we believe that a rich, ambitious education opens doors, broadens horizons and enables every child to realise their potential. Our curriculum is designed to empower pupils with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to thrive both now and in the future.
Our curriculum is bespoke to our community, reflecting the lived experiences of our children in Tower Hamlets while also providing windows to the wider world. It celebrates the diversity, culture and history of our local area, helping pupils to understand where they come from while developing curiosity about the people, places and ideas that shape our global society.
Learning at Cayley is carefully sequenced and progressive, beginning in the Early Years and building purposefully each year on the knowledge and skills developed previously. This ensures that pupils deepen their understanding over time and develop secure foundations for future learning. Our learning offer is truly broad and we recognise the value of an arts-rich curriculum alongside more traditionally academic subjects.
Our curriculum is designed so that children regularly experience learning through different disciplines. Throughout the week, we want pupils to think and work like scientists, historians, musicians, geographers, artists, writers and sportspeople—exploring ideas, asking questions and developing their understanding of the world in meaningful ways.
A key thread running through every subject is oracy. We believe every child should develop confidence in their voice and understand that their ideas and opinions matter. Through purposeful discussion, debate and collaborative talk, pupils learn to articulate their thinking clearly, listen respectfully to others and build knowledge together.
Ultimately, we want children to leave Cayley Primary with a thirst for knowledge, strong academic foundations and the confidence to pursue whatever path they choose. By nurturing curiosity, resilience and ambition, our curriculum prepares pupils not only for the next stage of their education, but for life in 21st century Britain and an increasingly interconnected world.
