Family Homework Winners - Autumn 1 2022 - Chinese New Year

Nursery Blossom and Cherry - "Mummy helped me. We put lights inside. We cut the box and put string. This is my lantern." Nursery Blossom and Cherry - "Mummy helped me. We painted it orange and white. We put a yellow beard on it. It was fun making the dragon." Reception - Chestnut Class - "I drawed on my fan and made my dragon with my daddy. I like my dragon." Reception - Chestnut Class - "I cutted the toilet roll and used paint with my mummy. I made the fire and put glitter. I like my dragon and the fire." Reception - Wisteria Class - "We got some cups and then we done a tail, we made the fire and then we done googly eyes." Reception - Wisteria Class - "My dad got a box and a bottle then I got eyes and we stuck it with glue to make the dragon head. My dad said to use the recycling box so we found the bottle and box there." Year 1 - Mulberry Class - "My mum and aunty made the spikes and the teeth. My aunty made the head and the mouth. We used cardboard and paper. My brother stuck the bits on. I put the ribbons on the back." Year 1 - Mulberry Class - "My mum helped me. I used paper and a roll. I used coloured paper. I wanted to make a dragon. It has wings." Year 1 - Juniper Class - "My aunty and my dad helped me make it. We used things from our recycling bin and used colouring pencils and coloured tape. We had lots of fun making this dragon." Year 1 - Juniper Class - "My Mum helped me make my model, we used tissue roll and a box to make the dragon. I coloured the wings." Year 2 - Willow Class - "I made a Chinese new year lantern. I used a red and yellow card to make the lantern. My mum helped me with my family homework and I enjoyed making the lantern because it was fun." Year 2 - Willow Class - "I made a drum with bells. I used toilet rolls and recycled materials to make the drum. My mum helped me to make the drum. I had so much fun making it." I made a YouTube video about Chinese New Year. I went to China Town, which is in Central London. I looked at Chinese culture and tradition. I ate different foods from China and used chopsticks to eat it. I looked at the beautiful lanterns that were hanging in China Town. My dad helped me to film the video. It was lots of fun. I feel very proud of the video. Year 2 - Birch Class - "We made dragons out of a cardboard box. We used lots of coloured papers and stick-ons to make it look colourful. Our parents helped us to make the dragons. Year 3 - Maple Class - "My mum helped me to draw the dragon and then she helped me to attach the lolly sticks. I used green shiny glitter to decorate my dragon. I chose the dragon because it is a Chinese new year animal." Year 3 - Maple Class - "My mum and sister helped me. I used a brush pen to decorate the dragon. My sister helped me to choose the colour of the brush pens to decorate. My mum helped me make the origami dragon using white paper. I had to fold the paper several times to create the shape of the dragon." Year 3 - Ash Class - "My mum helped me make the fan by using paper, straws and stapler. I helped her paint the parts by making dots in the middle." Year 3 - Ash Class - "First my sister helped me out by drawing the outline, I used highlighters to draw other things. I wanted to write two information and finally I added glitter." Year 4 - Holly Class - "I’m really happy, it was so fun to make" Year 4 - Holly Class - "Was really interesting to watch the video on how to make it on YouTube" Year 4 - Blackthorn Class - "So happy to win because my family helped me." Year 4 - Blackthorn Class - "This is my favourite type of homework so that’s why I love doing it." Year 4 - Aspen Class - "I retold the Chinese legend-The story of the Butterfly Lovers which was written over 2000 years ago! This is similar to the story of Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare because it is a tragic love story. My sister helped me with this and I also illustrated my writing with detailed beautiful butterfly drawings." Year 4 - Aspen Class - "I made a Chinese Lunar calendar. 2023 is the year of The Rabbit and begins on January 22nd . My mum helped me to make it and I enjoyed cutting out and colouring the picture of the rabbit. The calendar is written in Chinese, Gui Mao means ‘water rabbit’. The zodiac sign is the rabbit. The names of the months are written in Chinese characters." Year 5 - Hazel Class - "I really enjoyed making this family homework with my mum and dad. I made a magic lantern using different coloured glitter, glue, coloured paper, straws and thread. I am proud of what I was able to do and feel good about it." I feel great about my homework and my favourite part is making the balloons." Year 5 - Beech Class - "I used the internet to research about the Chinese New Year and I did it all on my own. I enjoyed learning about their numbers which are different to ours." Year 5 - Carob Class - "My older brother helped me. I enjoyed making the eyes and cutting the different shapes. I also used cardboard and tape. We started with the placement of the head, then the mouth and finally the eyes. I really enjoyed making stuff with the cardboard. Next time I would like to use paint. My favourite part was sticking it all together even though I found it hard to stick the eyes. I had to design the dragon before I started anything." Year 5 - Carob Class - "My mum helped me with the research. I found out my Chinese New Year animal which was s snake. My sister helped me to design my idea. I used card, scissors, glue and tape. I really enjoyed spending time with my sister and how realistic the snake looked." Year 6 - Hawthorn Class - "I’m happy I won because I love drawing. I was excited to see my homework put on display." Year 6 - Hawthorn Class - "I stuck the bunny because of the Chinese new year of the ‘Year of the Rabbit’. Also I love the colour gold as a background" Year 6 - Alder Class - "I liked working with my brother to create my homework and learning about Chinese new year. I used facts and even learnt some Chinese." Year 6 - Alder Class - "I worked with my mum to create my lanterns the same way it would be used in the Chinese new year celebrations." Year 6 - Rowan Class - "I loved researching facts about China and also loved including my parents in my homework."
