Assemblies

Assemblies play an important role in bringing our whole school community together. They provide a shared space where pupils reflect, celebrate achievements and explore the values that underpin our school. Through a carefully planned programme of assemblies, we aim to foster a strong sense of belonging, encourage respect for others and support pupils in developing confidence in speaking and listening.

As a school, we recognise the importance of collective worship in providing time for reflection, discussion and the exploration of values such as kindness, respect and empathy. Alongside this, our assemblies mark a range of important commemorative events and celebrations throughout the year. These are planned to be inclusive and reflective of the diverse backgrounds within our community, acknowledging and celebrating festivals and traditions from a variety of faiths and cultures.

Weekly singing assemblies expose pupils to a rich range of music from around the world and encourage participation and enjoyment. Oracy assemblies provide opportunities for pupils to develop their speaking and listening skills and to share their ideas with others. Celebration assemblies recognise effort, achievement and positive contributions to school life, with awards such as Star of the Week and Oracy Star of the Month celebrating pupils who demonstrate our values in action.

Through these experiences, assemblies help pupils to feel part of a supportive community, to understand and respect different beliefs and cultures, and to take pride in both their own achievements and those of others.
